How do Team Leaders hold colleagues accountable when they fall short of agreed standards?

Have you and your teammates agreed an ethos and standards for your team? 🤔 Without 3-6 guiding values and behavioural standards that you and your teammates enthusiastically agree on, you make it harder to address “problem” attitudes, behaviour or performance. Doesn't Everyone choose to act as a Team over a Performance Group?
Просмотров 172 месяца назад
When to work as a team? And when to act as a performance group? Well, first we need to understand the difference. If you’re in a work group, sometimes you’ll face tasks you can complete with you working individually, directed and co-ordinated by a leader. For those tasks, a performance group will suffice. But if you can’t complete the task through individual work, however well co-ordinated, tha...
The Difference between a High-Performing Team and a High-Performance Team
Просмотров 903 месяца назад
There’s a subtle yet key difference between high-performing teams and high-performance teams. I explain this in my How To Build Winning Teams trilogy. High-performing teams - what I also refer to as “real teams” - are impressive. But high-performance teams are a level higher. They have the three distinguishing features I discuss in my short video on this subject. While you can consciously build...
Does a Team really need a Leader?
Просмотров 313 месяца назад
Do teams need a leader? Yes, but not for the reason you might think. Their role isn’t to dictate tasks to their teammates, as some people think. A team leader's main role is to make sure the group is paying attention to the four dimensions of leadership. That means ensuring it has a motivating purpose, that it feels united, that it’s cracking on with the task and making progress, and each membe...

uncannily insightful. I was the newcomer and experienced the bad reaction you describe. upon reflection, almost all the areas you covered here were triggered by my arrival. there is perhaps an additional consideration, based on my own experience: culture shock from both sides - the team and the newcomer. if the newcomer is expected to lead a team, then inadequate planning and assimilation (your point 4 in this video) can be disastrous. I see now why starbucks allowed their incoming ceo 6 months of assimilation before officially assuming office.

Matthew 6:25-34 (RKJNT) Therefore I say to you, Do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Behold the birds of the air: they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 Which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to the span of his life? 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they do not toil, nor do they spin: 29 And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? 31 Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, With what shall we be clothed? 32 After all these things the Gentiles seek: but your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. 33 But seek first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow shall be anxious for itself. Sufficient for each day are the troubles of its own.

There are lots of other examples. There are over 30,000 different christian denominations because of dualistic thinking based on a particular individual's thinking. I cannot see Jesus having any difficulty with mindfulness no more than He would have a difficulty with somebody going to the doctor with an ailment, yet none of have a problem with that :-)
